Why is Blake Hill the Patch Player of the Week?

Hill is a talented three-sport athlete, as well as a polite and respectful young man. He stays active year-round by playing basketball, football and baseball, but admits that, so far, football is his favorite sport. Just last weekend, Hill, a center for the Milford Hawks’ sixth grade travel team, played in the Cape Cod Tournament. Hill participated in three games, and did well in all of them, but really hit his stride in the last game where he scored 26 points. Though the team did not have one of the most successful tournaments, Hill said: “it went pretty good and it was fun.”

Hill is a solid competitor and has been described by Shawn Fallon, a member of the Milford Youth Football board, as “the most athletic kid in the game” with the ability to “literally take over the game at any time.” When he’s not on the court, Hill plays running back and linebacker on the football field, as well as pitcher and centerfield on the baseball diamond.

With a strong work ethic on the field, there is no doubt that Hill will develop a solid mindset off the field and blossom into a very successful young man in the near future.

What college or professional athlete do you consider to be your role model?

I like Peyton Hillis because he was just one of those guys who no one gave a chance and he came out and did a lot of things for the Cleveland Browns (Blake is a big Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings fan).

What is your most memorable experience as an athlete so far?

My favorite memory is probably my first year that I started playing football because I was going to quit, but my dad got me out there and started teaching me how to play and I liked it more. I really just absolutely hated it at first because I had no idea what I was doing and I was getting hit from every direction, but as I learned and started getting low and delivering hits I liked the game more (As a second grader Blake played up on the All-American Pop Warner fourth grade team).

What are your plans for the future academically and athletically?

I’m not sure what college I want to go to yet, but I’m probably going to play football or baseball there. I’ll probably do something with sports or wildlife when I get older and that will be my job.
