Milford Coronavirus Cases Grow Past 300
New figures released Wednesday say that Milford's coronavirus case count grew by more than 150 over the last week.
MILFORD, MA — More than 150 people in Milford tested positive for coronavirus over the last week, bringing the town's case total to 316.
Last Wednesday, the state reported 114 cases in Milford. With the new cases added since last week, Milford's coronavirus case rate grew to 1,078 per 100,000 people, according to state calculations.
Part of the increase in Milford may be due to outbreaks at local nursing homes. There were between 10 and 30 people with the virus at Blair House of Milford, and less than 10 at Countryside Health Care of Milford. The Milford Center facility had more than 30 residents with coronavirus, according to state figures.

At Milford Regional Medical Center, 42 people were being treated for coronavirus as of Wednesday afternoon, and nine of those patients were in intensive care, according to state data.
As of Wednesday afternoon, 60,265 people across Massachusetts had tested positive for coronavirus, an increase of 1,963 from Tuesday. Another 252 people died over the past 24 hours, bringing the death total to 3,405 so far.

This week, a Milford Board of Health order for residents to wear face coverings in public went into effect. Residents over age 5 are supposed to wear masks while in public places like grocery stores and common areas at apartment buildings. Essential workers are also supposed to wear face coverings, and businesses can be fined $100 if found in violation of the order, according to the Board of Health.
