Milford Overnight Shelter, Daytime Center To Open During Freeze
Wind chills could reach -30 Friday into Saturday, a deadly scenario for local unhoused residents.

MILFORD, MA — Milford's only overnight emergency shelter and a separate daytime center will be open through a dangerously cold wave of weather that will be felt in town Friday and Saturday.
The Pathway to a Better Life shelter operates at St. Mary's Church, 17 Winter St., typically whenever temperatures drop below 20 degrees at night in the winter. Lisa Trusas, a Community Impact recovery coach who helps run the shelter, said the facility will be open beginning at 9:30 p.m. on Friday — the peak of the arctic weather.
Trusas also said the Regional Substance Navigation Program will open Chris' Corner, 12 Main St., to the public during the times Pathway to a Better Life will be closed at night. The facility will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on both Friday, Saturday and Sunday with warm food available.
