Milford Gets Money For Town Projects, Schools In 2023 State Budget
State lawmakers passed the upcoming fiscal year budget this week, although Gov. Charlie Baker still has to sign it.

MILFORD, MA — The state fiscal year 2023 budget passed by the legislature Monday includes some funding boosts for Milford Public Schools and other parts of town.
The state's main education funding program — called Chapter 70 — increased from about $4.7 billion in last year's budget to $5.1 billion in fiscal 2023. Wayland's Chapter 70 aid also got a boost from $32.4 million in the last school year to $39.4 million for fiscal 2023.
That's not all: lawmakers included a number of earmarks in the budget for Milford:

- $40,000 to the Milford Highway Department to upgrade the Upper Charles Trail
- $50,000 shall be expended for a Stop the Bleed program to pay for trauma kits and bleeding control training for school staff in Milford, Bellingham, Dover, Medfield, Millis, Needham, Norfolk, Plainville, Sherborn, Wrentham and Franklin
- $45,000 for improvements at the Milford Senior Center
The budget was hammered out in a conference committee and unanimously passed both chambers. Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker has 10 days to sign the budget.
