MILFORD, MA — Milford has seen eight drug overdoses over the past several days linked to the sale of cocaine cut with the synthetic opioid fentanyl and benzodiazepines, according to police.

Following the wave of overdoses, Milford police issued a warning to drug users: assume fentanyl is in everything bought on the street.

"Based on or professional experiences, fentanyl is now in all different types of substances, whether that be cocaine, methamphetamine, fake pills or vape cartridges - assume it is in anything and everything, there is no safe experience with substances, unless they are prescribed by a provider and taken only as directed by the person they are prescribed to," Regional Substance Navigation Program founder Amy Leone and police Sgt. Carlos Sousa said in a statement Monday.
