Milford Man Faces Child Pornography Charges

MILFORD, MA — A Brazilian man living in Milford has been charged with possession of child sex abuse material, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office of Massachusetts.
Joao Carlos Tavares Da Silva, 21, was accused of possessing child pornography. He also has an outstanding warrant in Brazil for statutory rape and other child exploitation charges, according to charging documents.
While searching his home in Milford, investigators seized multiple electronic devices. The criminal affidavit reported that images containing child sex abuse materials were found inside one device, including images of a victim in Brazil.

In Brazil, Tavares Da Silva was accused of statutory rape; production, reproduction, direction, recording, or filming of scenes of explicit sexual acts or pornography involving children or adolescents; and selling or offering for sale any photograph, video, or other recording that contains scenes of explicit sexual acts or pornography involving a child or adolescent, according to the charging documents.
He now faces up to 20 years in prison, supervised release for life, and a fine of $250,000.
