The store's employees told police that two men had Getchell detained outside the store after a store employee observed him select several “high end” handbags, with a total value at more than $1,000, and then run out of the store.

Police said an employee screamed at Getchell, which attracted the attention of two off-duty Suffolk County deputy sheriffs, who chased him and detained him until Braintree police arrived.
