Milford Needs Workers for the Presidential Election

Can you be an election worker?

MILFORD, MA—Milford Town Clerk Amy Hennessy Neves is seeking at least (16) additional election workers for the Nov. 8, 2016, the presidential election. Election workers must be 18 years of age or older and be a registered voter in Massachusetts. You must have your own transportation. You must be able to dedicate your efforts to the election process on Election Day.

Election workers must be able to do the following on Election Day:

  • Hear voters
  • See the voting list to check voters in and out
  • Repeat the voter’s information loudly and clearly
  • Sit for extended periods of time
  • Remain neutral regardless of your personal political views
  • Able to communicate well and calmly
  • Able to attend a training/meeting before the scheduled election
  • Commit to a scheduled time to work at least two weeks in advance of the election

The schedule on Election Day is split between an a.m. and p.m. shift; the a.m. shift is 6:45 a.m. until 2 p.m. and the p.m. shift 1:45 pm until the close of polls/8:45 p.m. (approximately). The current rate for workers is $10.40 (per hour).

Workers are not required to work every election, but it may be possible that you would be needed to work more than one election. Please let us know what shift(s) you are available, as we may need someone to work last minute unexpectedly.
