Man Assaulted Pregnant Woman In Milford: Police

MILFORD, MA — A Leominster man was arrested in Milford and charged with assaulting a pregnant woman. Milford police arrested Luciano Pereira Wednesday after an investigation into the assault, which police said happened in August.

Milford detectives were called to UMass Memorial Hospital in Leominster Aug. 27 after they received a report of a pregnant woman being assaulted. The woman told hospital staff she was assaulted a few days prior in Milford, she said she was in town for a party, according to police.

According to police, the woman said Pereira held her down inside his car. When she escaped, he trapped her again, this time in the doorway of a bedroom in a Milford home, police said. Authorities searched for Pereira in August but couldn't find him.

Investigators discovered he worked at an Ashland business and officers arrested him there. He was charged with assault of a pregnant woman and assault with a weapon.
