Milford Police Seek Full-Time Public Safety Dispatcher

MILFORD, MA — The Milford Police Department is looking to hire a full-time public safety telecommunicator to join its communications center.

The position reports to the communications supervisor and involves answering emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching police, fire and EMS personnel, operating public safety communications systems and assisting during emergency incidents.

Candidates with NexGen 911, Total Response EMD and APCO PST1 Public Safety Telecommunicator certifications are encouraged to apply. Applicants who do not already have the certifications will be required to complete department-paid training, the department said.

Preferred qualifications include the ability to work calmly in a fast-paced environment, strong communication and multitasking skills, a high school diploma or equivalent, typing proficiency of at least 30 words per minute and availability for rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.

Knowledge of Milford geography is also preferred, and previous public safety communications or related experience is desirable.
