New Repair Shop In Milford Offers Fix For Cracked Screens, More
The chain uBreakiFix opened a new location recently along Medway Road.

MILFORD, MA — If you've been walking around with a cracked iPhone screen, there's a new store in Milford that may offer a solution that doesn't involve spending $800 on a new device.
The electronics repair chain uBreakiFix recently opened a new location at the Stop & Shop plaza along Route 109. The store can fix everything from cracked screens to broken video game systems, TVs or "anything with a power button."
The chain was started in 2009 in Florida by Justin Wetherill, who was searching for a way to fix a cracked smartphone screen. The chain has grown to almost 700 locations since then, including nine other locations across Massachusetts.

Fix-it businesses like uBreakiFix have sprung up across the U.S. since the proliferation of smartphones, which are prone to breaking because they travel with their owners just about everything, from the bathroom to the Grand Canyon.
There's also a larger social movement aimed at urging consumers to fix electronics devices rather than throwing them away, which can sometimes be an easier, cheaper fix. The Repair Café organization has set up local chapters across the world — including ones in Sudbury, Bolton and Westborough — where people meet up to get free tools and tips to fix everything from toasters and phones, saving the electronics from the landfill.
