Paying Off the Mortgage with Pennies
Saving each penny paid off for this Milford homeowner, who retired his mortgage with a final payment made with a pile of rolled pennies.

Editor's Note: The following is based on information provided by Milford Federal Savings and Loan employee Rebecca Lane Geary.
Tom Daigle knows the value of a penny. For 35 years, he squirreled away pennies as they came his way, with the intention of paying off the mortgage on his family's home with this stash of savings.
Late last month, he did just that, letting know of his plans in advance. The event, documented with a photo, shows Daigle and his wife, Sandra Lanzetta Daigle, and their pile o' pennies.
