Planning Board to Resume Talks on Concrete Plant Tuesday Night

The plan which has drawn the ire of local residents will be discussed at Tuesday night's planning board meeting.

Amid opposition from residents, the Milford Planning Board is set to continue discussions on a proposed concrete plant on East Main Street.

During a July meeting, members of the boards and residents showed concern for the proposal located at 400 East Main St. Issues with the plan included the proximity to two daycare centers and residential neighborhoods, along with the impact on traffic.

Town Engineer Vonnie Reis noted that trucks heading towards Route 495 would have to go through two intersections known to have a high accident rate.

According to a traffic study commissioned by FRE Building Corp., about four trucks an hour would leave the plant, with 80 percent of vehicles heading towards Route 495.

The item is the fourth on the board’s agenda for Tuesday night’s meeting, which is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
