Police Log: Crews, Local Employees Extinguish Fire at Saint Gobain Containers

Monday, Aug. 18
At 12:29 a.m., a caller reported to Milford police that a vehicle was in the roadway in the area of Cedar and Dilla streets after it struck a guardrail while turning. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
At 2:58 a.m., a caller reported that she was involved in an accident and struck a series of bushes with her friend’s vehicle, driving up on a lawn across from the Woodland Elementary School.

At 6:03 a.m., a caller reported a vehicle had been left on the side of the roadway on Karen Circle.
At 7:11 a.m., a resident of Claflin Street reported someone had broken into his garage overnight and that several tools were missing.

At 3:55 p.m., Milford police received multiple reports of a two-car accident in the area of Depot and Forest streets. No injuries were reported.
At 4:03 p.m., a caller reported his window was smashed out while on East Street.
At 5:15 p.m., a caller reported that several days earlier the rear window of her vehicle was damaged and that, more recently, someone had destroyed plants on her property. Extra patrols were requested in the area of Luby Avenue.
At 6:38 p.m., a caller requested a check on a pitbull in the area of Fountain Street, believing the animal to have been abused. Police responded and found the dog was outside on a regular leash with a bowl of water and room to move around; not signs of cruelty were detected.
At 7:47 p.m., a caller reported a fire in the rear of Saint Gobain Containers on National Street. Milford fire crews responded and accessed the fire behind the water treatment building; employees on scene had the blaze under control at the time of the MFD’s arrival. Crews were able to extinguish the blaze.
