Police Log: Males Reportedly Try to Steal Plants from KMart

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

Saturday, July 26

At 11:13 p.m., police received a report that a group of five males were seen stealing plants from KMart, having been located behind the store with a shopping cart full of plants and headed toward the Double Tree hotel. Upon arrival, officers found a shopping cart with two plants on the right side of the store, but no one was in sight. No individuals were found in the area.

At 11:52 p.m., a caller reported loud music coming from the area of Cemetery Street. Officers responded and reported that the music had been turned off for the night.

Sunday, July 27

At 6:38 a.m., police pulled over a white 2004 Chevrolet van on Main Street and issued a summons to a 38-year-old Milford man for driving with a suspended license.

At 9:32 a.m., a caller reported her vehicle had been struck overnight on Congress Street.

At 12:51 p.m., a caller reported a lantern at the Kellett and Son Funeral Home had been broken.

At 1:21 p.m., Milford fire crews responded to the First Congregational Church of Milford after a main fire alarm went off.

At 1:48 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of South Main and Fruit streets. One vehicle was towed.

At 3:45 p.m., a caller reported two people were seen down by a stream near Pleasant Street. Officers responded and determined the couple to be a father and son exploring the area.

At 3:58 p.m., a caller reported a BMW with a flat tire was parked on the side of Fiske Mill Road.

At 5:13 p.m., a caller reported a gold Pontiac Grand AM was driving all over the road on Cedar Street.

At 6:25 p.m., a caller reported that a group of three or four young teens were “beating up” another child in the area of Pheasant Circle. The teens were described as being 12-14 years of age, wearing white tee shirts and red shorts. Officers responded and determined there to be no issue as the group was playing.
