Police Log: Natural Gas Odor Reported at Milford Water Company

Saturday, Aug. 9
At 8:19 a.m., a caller reported a strong odor of natural gas in the parking lot at the Milford Water Company. Milford Police notified NSTAR of the matter.
At 10:25 a.m., police received a report of a large gathering at Milford Town Park on Congress Street. The man reporting the gathering told police he thought the matter to be a disturbance and that there were no permits for the gathering. Police investigated and determined a permit had been obtained from the Milford Parks Department for the gathering until 6 p.m.

At 11:12 a.m., a caller reported seeing a potential rabid raccoon in the area of West Fountain Street. Animal Control was notified and responded to the area.
At 12:08 p.m., a caller reported that a large group of young kids jumped the fence at Mother Hubbard Preschool on School Street to access the playground on the property.

At 12:10 p.m., police received a report from a local resident that an elderly couple stopped in her driveway for the second time during the day to approach her child.
At 2:49 p.m., police received a report of a vandalized mailbox on Congress Street.
At 5:46 p.m., a caller reported his vehicle had been hit by another while at the Registry of Motor Vehicles on Beach Street and that the driver of the other vehicle then took off before returning to the scene to swap paperwork.
At 6:30 p.m., police received a report of a two-car accident in the area of the Area Glass Company on Central Street. One airbag was deployed; no injuries were reported.
At 7:19 p.m., a caller reported a black van with ladders on top had been driving erratically toward Sunoco and that the operator had been drinking while driving. Officers checked the area but could not locate any vehicles matching the description.
At 10:41 p.m., police received multiple reports of a car accident in the area of Parkhurst and Hayward streets involving potential injuries. One vehicle involved had reportedly rolled over; all occupants were able to exit the vehicle.
At 11:43 p.m., a caller reported that an employee of Pinz on South Main Street had been backed into by a vehicle but was not hurt. Then at 11:57 p.m., an ambulance was requested for the person struck due to claims of pain in his side.
