Milford Police Shoot, Kill Man After Call About Disturbance: DA
The 39-year-old man, a Glines Avenue resident, charged at police, the Worcester County District Attorney said.

MILFORD, MA — A Milford officer shot and killed a 39-year-old town resident on Sunday night along Glines Avenue, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.
Police went to a home along Glines Avenue around 8:30 p.m. for a report of a disturbance. It was there that Philip Castonguay ran toward police while holding a pipe. One officer opened fire, the DA's office said.
Castonguay was pronounced dead at Milford Regional Medical Center.

The officer, who was not named, was also taken to the hospital, but he was not injured.
State police with the DA's office are still investigating the shooting.

There has not been a police-involved shooting in Milford in years. In April 2019, Harvey Bennett Hubbard was shot during a standoff with police at a home in Hopedale, and he survived. Westborough police killed a man in November during a domestic violence incident.
State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester District Attorney’s office are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Sunday evening in Milford. The investigation is ongoing and we do not have any additional information to release at this time.
