Milford Selectmen Chairman Brian Murray will run for another term.

MILFORD, MA - Milford Selectmen Chairman Brian Murray will run for another term.

The long-time selectman announced that he will run for a sixth term on the board prior to Monday’s selectmen meeting.

Reading from a written statement, Murray said he reflected on a reelection campaign during the holiday season with his wife. Before announcing, he read off some of his accomplishments, including the senior center that led to the cleanup of a contaminated site, the athletic field complex at Milford High School, and the Army Renovation Project for the Milford Youth Center.

“At a certain point, an individual is satisfied with their accomplishments in their endeavor and is ready to step aside. Emily and I concluded that I have not reached that point,” he said.

Murray added that he feels Milford is on the cusp of an economic and cultural change, citing the Milford Regional Medical Center and Dana Farber satellite office as evidence.

“Over the past 15 years, I have worked hard to research all matters and make responsible decisions that are in the best interest of the town as a whole. During this very crucial time in our history, I believe that the diverse opinion I bring to this board is needed more than ever. That is why I will be a candidate for the Board of Selectmen in April,” he said.

Murray will have at least one challenger in April’s election. School Committee member Patrick Holland announced his plans to run in December.
