Selectmen Say No to $10,000 Work Request

The selectmen voted reject a request for extra work as a result of the Godfrey Brook project.

A request for $10,000 - $12,000 worth of work for a property affected by Godfrey Brook project has been denied by the selectmen.

This week, the board voted to maintain the current plan, rejecting a request from Hopedale selectman Sandra Biagetti to install a raised plant bed for new trees to be planted at a family property after the completion of the project.

“I’ve got to follow the guidance that we’ve received from our design firm and go with our original design,” Selectman William Buckley said.

According to town engineer Vonnie Reis, the estimate did not include an additional $3,000-4,000 in soft costs. The town would have to provide designs to the construction company doing the work before they could get a more concrete number.

In April, Biagetti appeared in front of the selectmen to address the removal of the trees, which was necessary to improve and repair Godfrey Brook according to the Milford Daily News.
