Sentencing of Waters Corp. Manager Delayed

The sentencing of a former . manager who pleaded guilty to federal charges that he illegally sold company equipment has been postponed a second time.

Glen Dias was scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Worcester.

A spokesperson for U.S. Assistant Attorney Karin Bell, who is prosecuting the case, said sentencing is now set for Feb. 9 at 3 p.m.

According to Bell’s office, Dias faces up to 20 years in prison on the fraud charges, 10 years on the laundering charges and five years on the conspiracy charge, along as well as fines and restitution.

Dias, a Mendon resident and former product manager for the Milford-based company, pleaded guilty in August to 40 charges stemming from the unauthorized sale of company equipment, including one count of conspiracy, 20 counts of mail fraud, seven counts of wire fraud and 12 counts of money laundering.

Federal prosecutors claim Dias knowingly sold Waters Corp. laboratory analytical equipment to two other corporations, with the help of two associates, between 1998 and November 2007.

Those associates, who prosecutors say helped build the case against Dias, are also awaiting sentencing and will likely learn their fate after Dias has been sentenced.
