VIDEO: Truck Fire Shuts Down Route 495 in Milford
A truck fire caused a 7-mile backup on Route 495 Wednesday night.

A truck fire on Route 495 South in Milford shut down all lanes near exit 20 and caused a traffic jam nearly seven miles long.
The driver, a 45-year-old man from Plymouth, told NECN that he heard a bang in the truck and got out. After exiting, smoke started to move out of the truck before the vehicle caught on fire.

State police first reported the closure at about 4:51 p.m., with all lanes shutting down due to the fire. By 5:49 p.m. left lane was reopened, with the center lane opening at 6:42 p.m, and all lanes shortly after 8 p.m.
The fire was extinguished by 6:45 p.m., with road cleanup following the blaze.

No injuries were reported at the scene.
