Police say the weight of sleet and snow caused the pole located near the Double Tree Inn to snap and crash down on Beaver Street. Beaver Street was completely blocked for a time and power was cut to the traffic lights at the intersections of Beaver Street and Route 16 and Beaver Street and Route 109.
Unfortunately, a crash at the intersection of Route 16 and Beaver Street only added to the traffic headaches, according to posts on the Facebook page. One commenter on Facebook called traffic at the intersection a “free for all” with only some people treating it as a four-way stop.
