Victims Killed by Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Identified

Police have released the name of two people who were found dead in a Prospect Heights apartment.

MILFORD, MA - Two Milford residents who were killed by carbon monoxide that filled a Prospect Heights apartment have been identified by police.

Adair DeSales, 47, and Maria DaSilva, 42, a carpenter and a cleaner, both died on Christmas Day according to the Milford Daily News.

On Friday, the two were found dead in Milford after reportedly being exposed to carbon monoxide poisoning. The Board of Health condemned the home Friday night, ensuring that no one can enter the property until it is inspected.

Due to the tragedy, the Milford Police Department is reminding residents to do the following:

  • Check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure the batteries are not more than six months old.
  • Change the batteries every time the clocks change for daylight savings time.
  • Never disconnect a smoke or carbon monoxide detector unless the fire department asks you to do so because they will reset it properly.
  • Install new smoke and carbon monoxide detectors every seven years or as recommended by the manufacturer of your detectors.
