MILTON, MA — A new all-day market is opening this week inside a historic Milton Village bank building.
Two Pence Market, from the team behind Steel & Rye, will open its doors Wednesday at 2 Eliot St. The shop will bring fresh food, specialty coffee, curated groceries, wine, indoor and outdoor seating and community gathering space to the former bank.
The Steel & Rye team planned to transform the historic South Shore bank building into a retail and gathering spot with quick-service food, house-made bagels, produce, coffee, smoothies and a wine retail space inside the original bank vault.
The market is led by restaurateur Dan Kerrigan and co-owner and culinary director Brendan Joy, who also lead Steel & Rye in Milton. The project was developed in partnership with JD Wild of The ELEVATED Companies.
Two Pence Market will offer morning coffee, freshly baked bagels, prepared meals, seasonal produce, specialty groceries, smoothies, breakfast sandwiches, salads, seasonal bowls and take-home selections, according to the business. Executive Chef Alison Hearn will oversee the culinary program with Joy.
The market will also feature local products and farm partnerships, including seasonal greens and produce from Allandale Farm and fruit from Ward's Berry Farm. A walk-up window will serve Toscanini's Ice Cream, including rotating flavors, sorbets and milkshakes.
The former bank's original vault has been turned into a wine retail space. The building also includes restored furnishings, indoor seating, a fireplace and two outdoor patios, including one with a pergola.
"Opening Two Pence Market is an incredibly meaningful moment for our team," Kerrigan said in a statement. "Milton has been home to Steel & Rye for close to fifteen years, and we wanted to create a place that feels connected to the community we've been so fortunate to be part of."
