Quincy House

Join us for an outdoor concert on the Quincy House lawn to celebrate the legacy of the American Revolution through music. In “The Revolutionary Drawing Room,” Arpeggione Ensemble recreates the atmosphere of a world on the edge of revolution, pairing music with writings from America’s past, present, and future. The music of the American Revolution was shaped by a multitude of cultures and peoples, nearly as diverse as American society today. From tavern songs from across the Atlantic to the latest Italian operas to newly penned calls against tyranny, music sparkled with excitement as change seemed just on the horizon. The most vibrant musical setting was often the drawing room, where lovers of music, poetry, and social discourse gathered.
The first floor of Quincy House will be open to explore starting at 4:00 p.m., music starts at 5:00.Historic New England Member: $20; Nonmember: $30
Chairs will be provided, or you are welcome to bring blankets for the grass. Picnics are allowed, but no alcohol is permitted on the property.

First Parish In Milton

On Saturday, October 3 at 7:00pm, Milton Community Concerts will present the thirteenth annual “Sing For Their Supper” free benefit concert in the historic Meetinghouse at First Parish of Milton-UU, 535 Canton Avenue. This event will feature ten opera singers from around New England in a popular program of opera and musical theater favorites to support the Milton Food Pantry and Milton Residents Fund. 
This year’s concert features a completely new lineup of singers: sopranos Sohyun Cho, Yelena Doduchkin, Mary Johnston Letellier, Ziruo Li, Kira Lim, and March Steiger, mezzo-sopranos Felicia Gavilanes and Arielle Rogers-Wilkey, countertenor Lucas Ludwig Coura, and baritone Mitch Fitzdaniel. They will be assisted by pianist Timothy Steele.
The singers for this concert have not only come to Boston from various parts of the US, but from around the world, including South Korea, China, Singapore, and Russia. They have appeared with many local performing organizations, including the Boston Symphony, Boston Lyric Opera, Castle of Our Skins, White Snake Projects, and Odyssey Opera. They have performed all over the world, from Carnegie Hall to Budapest and Vienna. They have won awards in international vocal competitions, and one was recently a featured soloist with tenor Placido Domingo in an orchestral concert in Europe. 
This is a free concert (no tickets needed), with all net proceeds collected from a free-will offering to benefit the Milton Food Pantry and Milton Residents Fund. All performers are donating their time and talents to support these two charities.

Join us inside the mansion for a cozy afternoon of music featuring violinist David Eure and pianist Alexei Tsiganov. The duo will perform an eclectic program rooted in the jazz tradition that draws on Brazilian, Latin, soul, R&amp;B, blues, funk, and classical influences.Doors open at 4:00 p.m. for refreshments and time to explore the house museum, which is included in the ticket price. The concert is from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
David, who teaches at New England Conservatory’s Preparatory School and Continuing Education departments, has performed with such diverse musical personalities as Yuseef Lateef, Taj Mahal, and Wayne Newton.
Since coming to the United States in 1991, Alexei has performed with many top jazz musicians. He currently is a member of the Boston jazz institution Either/Orchestra, and he teaches at the New England Conservatory.

Mary Ford, former editor of the Cohasset Mariner and the Hingham Journal and author of the acclaimed novels Boy at the Crossroads and Rebecca Road, will discuss writing in different genres. She also will be available to answer your questions one-on-one. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your work with fellow participants and to ramble the 60+ acres of estate grounds nestled in the base of the Blue Hills.
