If you love architecture, history, fantastic stories, great landscapes, fine art, folk art, and/or interior design, then we invite you to visit one or more of the 38 Historic New England sites that will be open and free to the public on Saturday, June 7.

Two of these sites are located on the South Shore: the Eustis Estate at 1424 Canton Avenue in Milton, and the Quincy House at 20 Muirhead Street in Quincy.

The Gilded Age Eustis Estate mansion will be open from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. for self-guided tours. Designed by renowned Boston architect William Ralph Emerson and built in 1878, the Eustis Estate sits on eighty acres of picturesque landscape at the base of the Blue Hills. The grounds are open from dawn-dusk every day. The Eustis Estate offers events year-round, including the first of our outdoor summer concerts on June 12 and our Juneteenth Community Celebration on June 21. For more information and tickets to these and other events, go to: https://www.historicnewengland.org/visit/events/?event_location=eustis-estate.

Quincy House will be open on June 7 from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. for self-guided tours. This country estate overlooking Quincy Bay transports visitors to the Revolutionary War era and tells the story of a woman’s work to preserve her family’s history more than 100 years later. Revolutionary leader Josiah Quincy built the house in 1770. On June 15, we invite you to step back in time for a garden party in honor of the Marquis de Lafayette’s return to the US in 1825. For information and tickets: https://my.historicnewengland.org/23865/evening-lafayette.

The two properties are located only 6.5 miles from one another, so we encourage you to visit both!
