Coronavirus: Milton Schools Implement Student Meals Program

Breakfast and lunch will be available to Milton students three days per week during the time school is closed due to the pandemic.

MILTON, MA — Milton Superintendent of Schools Mary Gormley said on Monday that pick-up-and-go breakfast and lunch will be available to town students beginning Wednesday with the schools closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. She added that students away from school should practice social distancing by staying in their houses, their yards or at least six feet away from anyone they see on a walk or bike ride, and not getting together with other students.

"This school closure is not a vacation," Gormley said in a letter to the school community. "It is an extreme measure to allow for social distancing so the virus is not spread. Not being exposed to the virus is the best way not to get sick. ... Your children, our students, should not be socializing with anyone outside of their immediate family during the school closure."

Gormley said plans are in place to give students opportunities to do remote learning for as long as the schools are closed. She said Comcast has a program to provide internet service for those in need.
