Blue Hills Hunters Asked to Help Find Missing Man

The hunters are asked to help find James "Jamie" Robertson of Avon.

Hunters going into the Blue Hills Reservation Tuesday will be asked keep a lookout for the remains of an Avon man who went missing on New Year’s Day 2014 and is presumed dead.

Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey, Avon and State police announced Tuesday that they reaching out to roughly 100 hunters that will go into the reservation, to help them find James “Jamie” Robertson.

“We do not know that Jamie Roberston is in the Blue Hills. Our information is that he may be found in a wooded area. We know he was taken from Avon, and believe at some point he was then in Canton,” District Attorney Morrissey said in a release.

The request is not exclusive to the Blue Hills area, according to Morrisey.

“We think hunters across Massachusetts can be an outstanding resource in circumstances like this. Though a hunter would naturally report seeing human remains, they might not think to report seeing a red or maroon sweatshirt, or stop at the sight of a pair of jeans,” Morrissey said. “We are asking for the hunting community’s help.”

Fliers will be distributed by staff from the Department of Conservation and Recreation to hunters as they enter the Blue Hills Tuesday.
