Community Service at The Forbes House Museum

Beginning 11 April 2011, Forbes House Museum is offering a indoor and outdoor community service projects for students and individuals. There is literally something for everyone! Volunteers are playing an important role in a new season at Forbes House as we usher in a new era at this very historic jewel of Milton.

Here are some of the opportunities currently available:
 
Help the Museum director organize the storage facility for works of art, books, photographs and prints.
Conduct research on the works of art in the Museum.
Upload information and photos into the Museum's database.
Catalog a new collection of donated library books.
Inventory museum works of art that need repair.
Assist the staff to assemble a new gift shop in the museum; research vendors and products for sale in the gift shop.
Help the staff organize the files and file cabinets in the museum office.
Help the Museum staff make a new exhibit room by helping to clean out some old lumber.
Research the trees and gardens on the Museum property; design signage for the outdoors.
Help tp plan a summer Civil War event by doing research on re-enactor groups, Civil War music, and repair of the replica of the Lincoln Log Cabin (located on the Forbes House property).
Help with interior painting projects, moving of light furniture, spring landscape clean up, and storage room clean up.
Come join the fun and spruce up the Jewel of Milton: The Forbes House Museum.
