A coctail party will be held to commemorate the departure of our early Milton Hill resident, Governor Thomas Hutchinson, on Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 4-6 p.m. at 88 Wharf Street, to benefit the Forbes House Museum.
Join us for an irreverent, and not historically accurate, re-enactment of Hutchinson's departure to England from the Milton Wharf. A procession to the wharf includes a fife and drum company with the Governor accompanied by a colonial regiment (The Gardner Regiment of Charlestown). Musket fire will herald his arrival at the wharf where the Governor’s neighbors and friends will have gathered to listen to his farewell remarks. At the conclusion of his historically inaccurate address, he will be escorted to an open vessel to begin his journey back to England. After a final musket volley, toasts will be made to his good journey. Come join the fun!
Limited tickets to the Hutchinson Retreat at 88 Wharf Street Restaurant will include complimentary beer and wine, passed hors d’oeuvres. Tickets are available by calling Becky Wright at the Forbes House Museum
