The Secret Lives of Fireflies

Watching fireflies is a special part of warm summer nights in New England. We watch, we enjoy, but do we really know what they are saying.

An en-"lightening" presentation, by Don Salvatore of the Museum of Science's Firefly Watch Citizen Science project will open the doors of discovery into the secret lives of fireflies. You will also learn how you can participate in a scientific research effort to find out if these magical insects are disappearing from our landscape and if so, why and what can be done about it.

After the presentation participants will be taking a guided night-walk to observe these phenomena for themselves fireflies. Wearing long pants and bringing bug spray is recommended!
