Five Injured After Fire, Explosion at Quincy Sewage Plant

The facility is part of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, but there is no reported public danger.

QUINCY, MA - A fire broke out at the Nut Island Headworks in Quincy Monday afternoon, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Five people sustained minor smoke-related injuries, according to police. The fire was brought under control just before 3 p.m.

There is no reported danger to the public. The facility is part of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority. It is a sewage screening facility for water that is making its way to Deer Island.
