The , and Fifth Grade Future Problem Solving Teams went to the State Bowl on March 19. Out of 55 towns who participate in the program, Milton was represented by three of seven teams selected to compete this year. This year’s competition asked students to devise a solution for a scenario to solve a water pollution problem in which two countries had to work together to save the ecosystem of eels used to create medicine for Alzheimer’s patients.
The Cunningham and Collicot teams are coached by Marti McKenna and the Glover/Tucker coach is Lori Henry.
The fifth grade teams use a six-step model which focuses on research, problem solving and communication skills to tackle complex issues facing society. The teams meet weekly during the school year and compete with other teams in Milton and throughout the state. The goal of the program is to develop the ability to design and promote positive futures using critical and creative thinking.
