MHS Debate Team Competes in Yale Invitational Tournament
Debate Team coach Nancy Warn brought the team to the Yale Invitational Tournament on September 23 and 24. There were 167 public forum debate teams, as well as competitors from all over the country in other speech and debate categories (Lincoln-Douglas Debate, public forum, and a variety of speech categories).
Said Warn, “The girls competed until after 10:00 on Friday night and were back at debating first thing Saturday morning. By the end of the day on Saturday, the girls had a record of 3-3 and were unable to advance to the final rounds. Two of their losses were technical ties, where the judge gave slight advantage to the opposition. They performed well, represented Milton with excellence and learned a great deal in the process.”
Warn added that she judged seven rounds of student debaters, and said she gained “lots of good insights to bring back to the Milton High School Debate Team.”
