Inaugural 13.1 Marathon to Travel Through Milton

The U.S. Road Race Sports and Entertainment Group half-marathon and 5K will be held Sunday

The U.S. Road Race Sports and Entertainment Group Inaugural Boston area 13.1 Marathon and 5K to benefit the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation will be run through Milton, Sunday June 27.

The half-marathon will begin and end at the Prowse Farm, where the Suffolk Reserves were drafted, before going through the Blue Hills Reservation and the town of Milton. The Karhu 5K will begin at the same place and end back at the Prowse Farm.

The race is one of eight 13.1 Marathons being held nationally this year. Other stops include: Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis, Atlanta and Dallas.

Over 4,000 runners and walkers have already signed up for the Sunday morning race. Registration for the half-marathon and 5K are still open online until midnight tonight. Runners can also register in person the day of the race. The cost for the half-marathon is $90, and $25 for the 5K. Registration and other information can be found at www.131boston.com.

Funds are raised for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation through the training program called Team Challenge. The funds will go toward support research, education and support initiatives.
