Do you have any background in finances or management that helps you with your decision making of budget recommendations?
Yes. I have worked in financial service for over 20 years and currently focus on firm-wide global initiatives at State Street Global Advisors. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Bentley College and a Master of Science degree in Financial Economics from Boston University. I am also a lecturer of finance at Boston University.
How does being a resident of Milton effect your decision making when dealing with department budgets?
My family is the direct recipient of the Town service and we are also the taxpayers of those services. Being on the Warrant Committee helps [me] influence the value of the Town services.
What is one of Milton's departments, boards or committees that you would like to see get more appropriations?
The new Consolidated Facilities department. I believe that the Town has created this department to first, protect and preserve the assets of the Town (i.e. new school buildings, library, etc.) and to reduce the expenses of the preventive maintenance of these buildings by assigning experts to manage these facilities. School principals, department managers and Selectmen can now focus their attention to their department services and not spend time on their facilities. I believe that in the long run, once the Consolidated Facilities has received responsibility and budget from the other departments, there will be cost savings and preserved value in the Town's assets.
