MIAA Seedings for All Spring Sports are Now Available

High school athletes begin postseason this weekend

After a long regular season, high school athletes from around the state are preparing to clash for postseason glory. This week the MIAA released the tournament schedule for all spring sports. The following is the records and tournament seedings for Milton High School and the Fontbonne Academy.

The Milton High School softball team (14-8) will be hosting 17th seeded Braintree (11-7) at Curry College today,  at 3:30 p.m. The Lady Wildcats earned a 16th seed in the MIAA South Division 1 tournament. The winner of today's game will play top-seeded Norwood (20-0). The date of that first round match up has not been announced. 

Milton baseball (13-7) earned a seven seed in the MIAA South Division 2 tournament. The Wildcats will host Stoughton (12-8) 3 p.m. June 4 at Cunningham Park. The winner of that contest will play second seeded-Duxbury (18-2) 6 p.m. June 7 at Chandler Field.

The Milton High School girls tennis team earned a 12th seed in the MIAA South Division 2 team tournament with an overall record of 11-7. After a preliminary round bye, the team will face fifth-seeded Hopkintown (18-2), 3 p.m. June 5 at Hopkinton.

In softball, Fontbonne Academy earned the 18th of 19 spots with a record of 9-11. They will travel on June 4 to take on the 15-seeded East Bridgewater at 3:30 p.m. (9-7). The winner of this preliminary match up will face second-seeded Bellingham (18-2), at 3:30 p.m. June 5 on the road.

The All-State Track Meet is being held June 5 at Westfield State College. Field events begin at 3 p.m. and track events state at 4 p.m.
