Milton Based Cultural Exchange Program Seeks Participants

Interested in a fun, free and educational summer activity for the whole family? Check out Explore Japan!

Explore Japan is a series of 2.5 week programs cultural exchange programs based in Milton. For the past 22 summers hundreds of local families, the majority from Milton, have participated in this unique program. During Explore Japan local children attend daily Japanese cultural classes and workshops and in the afternoon go on field trips with a group of visiting Japanese students. For families that host a visiting student, further expanding the opportunities for learning and exchange, the entire program is free!

Martin Bauer, a Milton resident whose family participated in 2012, comments “Explore Japan was a positive, enjoyable experience for our entire family. Our Japanese students brought their culture, their unique world view, and their youthful curiosity. Everyone enjoyed the oftentimes humorous and sincere efforts made when communicating differences. We learned together, and had fun doing so.”

This summer the boys’ program will be held at Pierce Middle School from July 23 - August 9 while the girls’ program will be at Milton High School from July 25 - August 11. While the program is based in Milton, families with children age 8-18 from all over the area can participate. Explore Japan is still accepting applications to this summer’s program and interested families can apply online at www.americanlearning.com. To reach Explore Japan via phone, call (617) 966-0622.
