Milton Girl Scout Receives a Top Award

Catherine Ashur was given her Gold Award, the Girl Scout's highest honor, at a ceremony this month.

At a ceremony held at the Boxborough Holiday Inn, a Milton Girl Scout received the highest award a Girl Scout can earn.

Catherine Ashur was given her Gold Award pin by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts at a ceremony attended by family, friends, Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts' Board President, Peggy Stevens and CEO Ruth N. Bramson.

According to the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts the Gold Award, “recognizes a service project that fulfills a need within a girl's community whether local or global, creates change, and becomes ongoing. To earn the award, girls must complete the Silver Award and a minimum of 80 hours of service. The project is more than a good service project—it encompasses organizational, leadership, and networking skills. Just five percent, approximately, of all Girl Scouts earn this award each year.”
