Milton High School Students Recognized by National Merit

Milton High senior Caeleigh MacNeil was named a Semifinalist in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program and three of her classmates were named Commended Students.

The Milton Public Schools have announced that Caeleigh MacNeil, a senior at , was recently named a Semifinalist in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program and three of her classmates were named Commended Students.

MacNeil, along with the other semifinalists nationwide, represent less than one percent of students who took the PSAT. More than 1.5 million students nationwide took this exam, which served as an initial screen of program entrants.

To become a finalist, MacNeil must maintain an outstanding academic record, be endorsed and recommended by her principal, Dr. Joseph Arangio, earn SAT scores that confirm the earlier performance and submit a detailed application to the National Merit Scholarship Program.

It was also announced that Milton High students David Collins, Laura Hess and Elizabeth Mahon were named Commended Students by the National Merit Program. These three students placed in the top five percent of the 1.5 million test-takers in the nation.

“Our Milton High students who excelled on these tests have shown outstanding academic potential,” said Ken Aubert, director of guidance for the Milton Public Schools. “They deserve this recognition and they deserve to know how proud we are of them.”
