Milton High Sends Six Students to Leadership Conference

The MHS juniors will attend the American Legion-sponsored Boys State and Girls State conferences this summer at Stonehill College.

Six juniors will be heading to Stonehill College this summer as part of a leadership conference sponsored by the American Legion.

 Students are chosen who have demonstrated an interest in government and current events. In addition, the selection crtieria includes high moral character, strong leadership abilities and above average scholastic standing.

 Milton High School will be well-represented by the following students: Boys State: Derek Curley, Lucas Shapiro, Sam Taugher. Girls State: Isabel Andrews, Regine Jean-Michel, Chayna McDermott.

 This year, the programs will be held at Stonehill College from June 11 to June 17.  Boys State and Girls State programs are sponsored by the American Legion and were formed to educate future leaders.  For more than 70 years, Boys State and Girls State have striven to teach government and principles of democracy from a unique perspective to our nation’s youth.
