Milton Public Schools Offer Music Lessons

Students in grades four and up can sign up for Milton Public Schools Applied Music Lessons on September 8.

Parents of Milton students who are interested in registering their children for beginners' music lessons should make note of the following information.

Beginner registration night for Applied Music Lessons will be held on Thursday, September 8 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Milton High School.

These lessons are open to students in grades four and above. Parents should bring their checkbooks and be prepared to pay for Session One and, if necessary, a rental instrument. Private lessons are $335 per student and semi-private lessons are $222.50. Instrument rental prices vary.

The Milton Public Schools own several instruments, which are loaned out on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is no rental fee for these instruments, though parents are responsible for any repairs that may need to be performed.

There are only a limited number of available slots for lessons, so it is very important to attend this registration night.  If you cannot attend, call Dr. Noreen Diamond Burdett at 617-696-4470 x5518 on Friday, September 9 to find out if there are any spots left. You will also need to call Rayburn Music at 888-729-2876 (or another music company of your choice) to rent an instrument.

Lessons are offered for flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone horn, French horn, drums, violin, viola, cello and bass. ALP does not offer lessons in recorder or piano. No students in grades lower than fourth will be registered on September 8, but if there are slots available after September 9, these will open to younger students.

The 30-minutes lessons are given once a week at Milton High School and are scheduled Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 9 p.m. and Fridays from 2:30 to 7 p.m. Lessons are taught by professional musicians, who are specialists on these instruments.

This registration night is for beginners only. Continuing students should contact their lesson teachers directly to register.
