Milton Resident Organizes Women Working for Oceans Panel Discussion

"Roadside Assistance: Driving Change on Our Streets and in the Oceans," a panel discussion hosted by Women Working for Oceans, will take place on Oct. 23 at the New England Aquarium's Simons IMAX Theatre.

Lynne Taylor of Milton grew up spending her summer days at the beach. She has a deep passion for the ocean and all the amazing creatures that live in it. She is working to help protect the ocean so both marine and human life will continue to thrive.

Taylor is on the board of W2O (Women Working for Oceans), a  local organization whose mission is to promote healthy and sustainable oceans by planning informative events, particularly for women, so they discover what more can be done to prevent global climate change very close to home.

On Tuesday, Oct. 23, W2O hosts “Roadside Assistance: Driving Change on Our Streets and in the Oceans,” a lively panel discussion at the New England Aquarium’s Simons IMAX Theatre from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

W2O wanted to call attention to the car choices that consumers are making and wanted to expand the conversation so attendees know about the growing line of improved, more environmentally-friendly cars that are becoming available. Herb Chambers will fill the Aquarium’s Central Wharf with cars for attendees to see.

For W2O’s two previous events, the articulate National Geographic photographer Brian Skerry headlined their first lunch last October, narrating stories from his far-flung adventures as his breathtaking images projected across the IMAX screen. In April, W2O hosted a thought-provoking talk with Plastic Pollution Coalition co-founder Dianna Cohen, a Los Angeles-based visual artist who uses plastic bags in her artwork to invoke discussion about the wastefulness of reams of used plastic grocery bags.

W2O brings a hopeful and positive message to women and empowers them about being part of the climate change solution from purchasing sustainable seafood, starting plastic-free campuses in school, advocating for sound environmental legislation, and making consumer decisions that directly impact our fragile oceans.
