Milton Residents Warned Of Turner's Pond Freeze

Though temps are (well below) freezing, the pond's ice is still dangerous.

MILTON, MA – As temps drop well below freezing, bodies of water across the state will start to freeze. Sometimes, these can be used for hockey or ice skating. Turner's Pond is not one such case, according to the Milton Police Department.

Police are reminding residents that the pond is managed by the Milton Parks and Recreation Department, which prohibits ice skating on the pond. Because the pond is fed by an underground spring, the water freezes unevenly with many thin pockets.

It is not safe to walk on the frozen pond, police said. Residents are urged to keep children and pets off the ice for their safety and the safety of first responders.
