Milton School Safety Improvements, Pedestrian Access Complete

A ribbon cutting was held Thursday to celebrate the Safe Routes to School program at Glover.

MILTON, MA – Safety improvements and enhanced pedestrian access were completed Thursday at Glover Elementary School in Milton. The improvements were constructed by MassDOT through the Federal Highway Administration and Massachusetts Safe Routes to School program.

Construction included new and improved sidewalks on Brook Road and the southbound side of Canton Avenue. New islands were also created to slow traffic, shorten the distance of the intersection and create easier sight lines for drivers. Ramps and markings indicating bike lanes and crosswalks were installed, as well.

MassDOT and community members celebrated the completion of the safety measures at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday.
