Milton Softball All-Star Saturday Benefits One Fund Boston

Milton Girls Softball is a non-profit organization with the goal to provide all girls with an experience that fosters positive self-esteem, team spirit, and individual growth through personal achievement and team play.

The Milton Girls Softball annual All-Star Saturday celebration is the event that players, coaches, and parents look forward to during the softball season.

The day kicked off with the ever-popular Freshwomen Skills Challenge. More than 130 water balloons were used to practice accurate throwing skills utilizing the coaches as targets.

All-Star Saturday wouldn't be complete without some big league play between the Sophomore, Junior, and Senior divisions. The division all-star games featured players from each team who were recognized by their coaches and peers for their contribution to their team. The games are a way to recognize the girls for their spirit and dedication to the team.

Topping off the event is the cook-out that takes place every year on the basketball courts adjacent to the softball field. In year's past, proceeds from the cook-out have been used to fund softball related items such as new equipment.   Softball parent Kate Carroll (mom to three players) had a great idea to add a bake sale to the cook-out with all the proceeds going to the One Fund Boston.

One Fund Boston was created to assist the victims and families affected by the tragic events at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. The cook-out and bake-sale raised $585 that was donated to the One Fund last week.

There was more than just money being raised on June 1, 2013 there was a sense of community and giving back to help others with the OneFund. The event and money raised was a success because of the dedication and enthusiasm of the softball community and a great day was had by all.
