Not Your Average Joe's Partners with Perkins to Support Blind New World Week

MILTON, Mass. – Governor Charlie Baker signed his first-ever braille proclamation at the State House last week to officially start BlindNewWorld Week (BNWW), a public service social change campaign sponsored by Perkins School for the Blind in Massachusetts. Joining the support team to help demystify blindness and break down barriers to inclusion is Not Your Average Joe’s.
During the week, BlindNewWorld worked with its partners to show how the sighted population can be proactive about breaking down barriers in employment, education, transportation and innovation.
On Saturday March 11, BNWW partner Not Your Average Joe’s (NYAJ’s) helped add a twist to the term ‘Blind Date’ by offering sighted and visually impaired customers an offer of a free entrée with the purchase of a second entrée in all Massachusetts locations. Menus in braille were available at NYAJ’s Acton, Arlington, Waltham, Watertown and Westwood, according to Founder and CEO of Not Your Average Joe’s, Steve Silverstein.
