Shop for Success at Galatea

Galatea will host a benefit for Dress for Success Boston this Saturday.

Philanthropists and fashion-lovers alike will have the chance to stock up on new items for fall as Galatea hosts a shopping event to benefit Dress for Success Boston, this Saturday, Sept. 18 from 4-7 p.m.

The event is free to the public, with a portion of the sales for the evening going to the Boston branch of this worldwide non-profit organization. Galatea owner Kai Armstrong became personally involved in Dress for Success Boston through a customer, and soon decided to get involved in planning a major fundraiser, which is in the works for this winter, and also to hold her own event at her boutique in Milton Village.

"(Dress for Success Boston) provides business clothing and accessories to women who are entering the workplace who are slightly disadvantaged," explained Armstrong.

The event will feature a variety of clothing, jewelry and handbags including An Ren, Veeca, Big Buddha bags, Kamelon interchangeable jewelry and more. Shoppers will also get an opportunity to peruse pieces of jewelry that Armstrong picked up on a recent buying trip to Istanbul, Turkey.

In addition to the opportunity to pick up some unique pieces, the event will als0 feature raffles with prizes, including Arbonne beauty products, gift certificates to local businesses, and a French handbag. Complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres will also be served. Armstrong encourages people to "come, have fun, shop and show their support for the group."

While this event will mark Galatea's first benefit for Dress for Success Boston, Armstrong is no stranger to hosting events; she tries to host two events at Galatea per month, whether they are fun, charitable or sometimes both. Proceeds from Galatea's last benefit went to Mil Milagros, an organization which provides education and food for 600 per day in Guatemala.
