State Senate Approves Legislation for Extra Liquor License in Milton

The license will go to Mr. Chang's in East Milton Square

Legislation allowing for an additional liquor license in East Milton has been passed in the Massachusetts State Senate.

The office of Senator Brian Joyce announced on Thursday that the Senate has passed enabling legislation for the town of Milton to issue a liquor license for Mr. Chan’s in East Milton Square.

The bill was filed by Senator Joyce at the request of the town. Once enacted by the House and signed by the Governor, the Selectmen will be able to issue the additional license.

At the 2014 Annual Town Meeting, the town voted to request that a home rule petition be filled in the Massachusetts State Legislature. The bill seeks to codify the Board of Selectmen’s authority to grant a liquor license to the location according to the Milton Times.
