The Hottest Toys of 2013

It may seem early, but Christmas is actually only just over two months away and while there’s been pushback to hearing that stores like Kmart are already pushing their holiday layaway, it’s not too early to take a look at what retailers are calling the hottest toys of 2013 so you can add them to your list and not miss out when the world is running around trying to buy the impossible. Remember Cabbage Patch Kids in the 1980s? Enough said.

National toy retailer Toys R Us has its list of the 15 hottest toys of the season - and some will look familiar thanks to marketing and advertising campaigns that have been going on for weeks now. On the list:

Big Hugs Elmo - Elmo is back again, this time he’s bigger than ever (22 inches tall) and when you hug him, he moves his arms to hug you back.

Tablets, Tablets Tablets - Two kid-friendly tablets made this list this year:

The Tabeo e2 - This 8-inch tablet for children ages 6 to 11 gives your child the ability to explore the Internet without taking over your iPad, and it comes in three colors: silver, pink or blue.

LeapFrog’s LeapPad Ultra Learning Tablet - This 7-inch screen tablet comes with access to more than 800 apps, games, videos, music, e-books and more and comes in your choice of green or pink.

When it comes to playing pretend, there is always something great on the list. This year’s list has two fun choices: 

Disney’s Sofia the First Royal Talking Enchanted Vanity -Taking the talking mirror made famous in Snow White, and making it more friendly, this talking vanity includes everything your little princess needs for pampering. The vanity is geared toward children ages 3 to 5.

Doc McStuffins Deluxe Get Better Check-Up Center - This has everything your child needs to imagine they are healing their toys and giving healthy checkups. It comes with an electronic “Big Book of Boo Boos” to help make a diagnosis, along with a portable scale to check their patients’ weight, and a bandage dispenser. It also includes a lab coat and much more.
